The Fantastic Four

This is the opening scene for a speculative film adaptation of the Fantastic Four meant to introduce the character of Susan "Sue" Storm. While Marvel has taken off as a film series, there still isn't a good adaptation for the story that kicked off the popularity of the Marvel Comics: The Fantastic Four. To make this script, I went back to the original comics to preserve what made this story so appealing in the film adaptation. I believe that while adapting a story for a new medium, a writer should stay as true to the original story and its structure as possible, which is why I decided to start with Sue in the sort of similar situation as is presented in the comics while still adapting it to be more modern and to magnify her relatability. While some things need to change given the difference between a story told through comics in 1961 and a film released in 2025, I wanted to keep the core appeal of showing the Fantastic Four as real people, with their own lives, friends, and hang-ups beyond their superhero work.
